Experts Agree: Kamala Harris’s Plans are Best for the Economy
Hundreds of economists agree that Vice President Harris's plans would be better for America while Donald Trump would increase inflation and increase costs for everyday Americans.

Kamala Harris has released an 82-page economic policy book with ideas for child care, healthcare, inflation, small business support, and implementing a fairer tax system. This book is an excellent resource for people who still want to know more about her plans.
Economists who have examined both candidates agree that Harris’s plans are better for the economy. The Financial Times and the University of Chicago surveyed nearly 40 top economists and found that 70 percent thought Harris’s plans would be better at reducing inflation. Only three percent said Trump would be better.
The Wall Street Journal conducted a similar survey in which economists agreed that Donald Trump’s economic agenda would raise prices, explode the deficit, and cause worse inflation than Kamala Harris’s plans.
So, what does Kamala Harris want to do?
Cut Taxes for Working People
- Restore the Expanded Child Tax Credit to Up to $3,600
- Add a New $6,000 Tax Cut to Help Families Pay for the High Costs of a Child’s First Year of Life
- Expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit
Donald Trump wants to cut taxes for the largest corporations, a strategy that has already failed in this first term. And yet, he wants to go lower. Donald Trump’s corporate tax giveaway means corporations would pay a lower tax rate than individuals making $45,000 annually.
Lower Food and Grocery Costs
- Invest in building resilient food supply chains where production is less concentrated by expanding production among small farms, growers, and processors.
- Crack down on unfair mergers and acquisitions that give big food corporations the power to jack up food and grocery prices
- Go after price gougers and call on Congress to pass the first-ever federal ban on price gouging
If you think that sounds like socialism, think again. The Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act makes it illegal to price gouge after a natural disaster. In fact, the Texas AG website brags that its law ensures Texans “are better equipped to avoid scams and get a fair shake.” North Carolina and Florida have similar anti-price gouging laws.
Lower Health Care Costs
- Vice President Harris will expand and make permanent the tax credit enhancements for Affordable Care Act marketplace plans
- Work with states to help them enter into agreements with hospitals and other health providers to relieve medical debt for more Americans
- Increase healthcare opportunities for veterans
- Continue to stand up to drug traffickers and pharmaceutical companies while also working to help those struggling with addiction get the treatment they need
Donald Trump wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act and return America to a place where people with preexisting conditions cannot get insurance, and insurance companies can offer junk plans and cap your healthcare.
Lower Prescription Drug Costs
- Extend the $35 cap on insulin and the $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket costs to all Americans
- Accelerate the speed of Medicare prescription drug negotiations
- Crack down on pharmaceutical companies that block competition and abusive practices by pharmaceutical middlemen who raise costs for consumers
Help Americans Buy a Home and Afford Rent
- Building up supply through the first-ever tax incentive for building affordable homes for first-time homebuyers
- Launching a $40 Billion Local Innovation Fund for Housing Expansion
- Taking on algorithmic price fixing that distort markets and ending unfair practices that help large corporate landlords dramatically raise rents.
- Stopping Wall Street investors from buying and increasing the prices of homes in bulk
- Providing up to $25,000 in down-payment assistance for first-time homebuyers
- Creating a new tax credit to rehabilitate affordable housing for homeowners who want to stay in their communities
Donald Trump is silent on housing affordability. In fact, his family built its wealth in apart by ripping off renters and has been sued for “systemic violations of the Fair Housing Act of 1968.”
