Herschel Walker Doesn’t Support Monthly Insulin Price Cap for Diabetes Patients; “You Got to Eat Right”

Over 1 million people in Georgia use insulin. Walker would let pharmaceutical companies continue to charge them whatever they wanted without a cap.

Herschel Walker, the Republican nominee for one of Georgia’s two U.S. Senate seats, believes that pharmaceutical companies should be able to charge diabetes patients whatever they like for insulin.

Walker has repeatedly emphasized that he wouldn’t have voted for the Inflation Reduction Act had he been in Congress. As described by The White House, that Act includes limits on the cost of certain prescription drugs for those on Medicare including a $35 cap on a month’s supply of insulin.

During his debate against Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock (D-Georgia), Walker downplayed Warnock’s efforts to cap the monthly price of insulin to $35, by saying Georgians suffering from diabetes who are worried about the rising cost of insulin need to “eat right.” Walker further stated, “Because he, [Warnock] may not know and I know many people that’s on insulin, and unless you are eating right, insulin is doing you no good.”
