These Five States Have Voter Registration Deadlines This Week

If you live in Alaska, Louisiana, Rhode Island, South Carolina or Tennessee, you face one or more voter registration deadlines this week.

Alaska: Registration deadline is Sunday, October 4. Voters can register online, in person or by mail (postmark by October 4). Alaskans, check your registration or register to vote here.

Louisiana: If you are registering in person in Louisiana, the deadline is 30 days before the election, which is Sunday, October 4. It is unclear from the Secretary of State website whether that deadline will be moved to Monday this year to accommodate Sunday in-person location closures, so be be early to be sure!

Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by Monday, October 5. You can register online up to 20 days before the election on October 14. See all Louisiana registration requirements or register to vote online here.

Rhode Island: The deadline for all in-person, online and mail-in registrations is Sunday, October 4. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by the 4th. Visit the Rhode Island voter information center here.

South Carolina: In South Carolina, the in-person registration deadline is Saturday, October 3, but given potential weekend closures assume the deadline is Friday, October 2. The online deadline is Sunday, October 4, and mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Monday, October 5. Learn more or register to vote here.
