Marco Rubio Talks About Inflation. No Idea What to Do About It.

The GOP has made inflation a key talking point this cycle. Global inflation is a problem and Democrats have been working on plans to help give relief to Americans by combatting gas prices, medical costs, and other rising costs. They’re also advocating for a pay raise for American workers.

In a recent debate, Florida Senator Marco Rubio was called out by his opponent, Democrat Val Demings who said “Of course the senator who has never run anything at all but his mouth would know nothing about helping people and being there for people when they are in trouble.”

Rubio was asked by the debate Moderator “What can you do to help inflation?”

Rubio and colleagues introduced the Inflation Prevention Act (IPA) a bill that would bar legislation estimated to increase inflation until the year-over-year inflation rate drops below 4.5 percent, and could only be waived with a three-fifths majority vote in the Senate. The problem with this proposal is that it does absolutely nothing to address the two primary causes of inflation which are energy and housing.

Republicans like Rubio say they’re going to increase oil production but they don’t actually have the power to do. In fact, oil companies are already sitting on thousands of unused public land drilling permits given to them by the Biden administration. Plus, oil executives have already made it clear that they’re not going to increase supply due to “investor pressure” to keep profits up.

Oil companies have posted record-breaking profits this year and are investing heavily in Republican campaigns.
